Safset was founded in 1964 by the late Shri P.K. Sethi, beginning as Safset Forwarders — a logistics management firm supporting India’s growing international trade. Over the decades, the Group diversified into services, retail, and investments, expanding its presence through strategic ventures and partnerships.

In 1988, Safset introduced Giftex, India’s premier gifting trade fair, which became a cornerstone of the industry for over three decades. Today, Giftex has evolved into the luxury collectibles space through its “A World of Collectibles” series — curating heritage jewellery, fine timepieces, vintage furniture, rare books, memorabilia, and objets d’art for discerning collectors.

By the 1990s, Safset Investments emerged as a key vertical, initially focused on equities before expanding into art as an investment class. In the early 2000s, art formally became part of the portfolio, guided by expert advisors helping clients build valuable collections.

The launch of the Institute of Contemporary Indian Art (ICIA) in 2006 marked Safset’s deeper engagement with the art world — creating one of Mumbai’s largest private venues for museum-quality exhibitions. In 2008, Safset strengthened its position with AstaGuru Auction House, now a pioneering online auction platform recognized globally for Modern & Contemporary Indian Art, Jewellery, Watches, and Opulent Collectibles.

Today, Safset continues to advance in alternative asset classes, offering bespoke advisory services in art, property, and beyond, with plans to establish dedicated investment funds.
